Privacy Policy

PrepMaster ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting the privacy of our users. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your personal data when you use the PrepMaster platform, including the school and student portals.

We handle personal data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act and other applicable law.

For personal accounts you create yourself (student, premium subscriber, competition participant), PrepMaster is the data controller and decides how your data is used.

For institutional accounts, and for the student, teacher and staff records a school creates and uploads, the school is the data controller and PrepMaster acts as a data processor, handling that data on the school's instructions and only to provide the service. Questions, access or correction requests about a school-held record should be made to the school first; we will assist the school in responding.

• Account Information: your full name, email address, phone number where you provide it, and password when you register or are issued credentials.
• Profile Data: your exam type, selected course, JAMB subject combinations, state of residence, and any profile picture or photo you upload.
• Student Records (provided by a school): a learner's first and last name, class, department, subject combination, student number, gender, parent or guardian phone number, enrolment date, photo, status, and any notes the school adds to the record.
• Institutional Data: school name, address, contact and administrator details, logo, classes offered, subscription and verification details.
• Academic Data: assessments created by a school, access codes (PINs), attempts, answers, scores, results, topics covered, and online class participation details.
• Meeting Data: the title, class, subject, date, time, host and meeting link of a class. Live audio and video is carried by the third-party video provider and is not stored by PrepMaster.
• Uploaded Files: documents and files a school uploads, such as circulars, results or policies.
• Communications: messages you send through the in-app support chat or AI assistant, and service emails we send you.
• Financial Data: deposit amounts, withdrawal requests, wallet and coin balances, and transaction history. We do not store bank card numbers or sensitive banking credentials.
• Usage & Device Data: quiz attempts, competition entries, leaderboard positions, activity logs, browser type, device type, and general location (state level only, used for personalisation).

We use your information to: operate and improve the PrepMaster platform; personalise your study and competition experience; deliver assessments, results and online classes for schools; process deposits, withdrawals, subscription and store payments; send important service notifications and email updates; verify phone numbers and prevent fraud; and comply with applicable Nigerian laws and regulations.

PrepMaster does not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We may share data with trusted service providers strictly for operating the platform, including: cloud hosting and storage providers; email delivery services; payment and payout partners; the video meeting provider used for online classes; AI service providers used for support, study help and question generation; and examination, result-checking or study-abroad partners you choose to use.

A school\'s own administrators, teachers and staff can see the records, assessments and results belonging to that school. We may also disclose information where required by Nigerian law or legal process. Some service providers may process data outside Nigeria; where they do, we take reasonable steps to ensure your data remains protected.

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Transaction records are retained for a minimum of 5 years for financial compliance purposes. School-held records are kept for as long as the school uses the platform, and are deleted or returned when the school asks us to or when its account ends. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time, subject to legal retention obligations.

PrepMaster employs industry-standard security measures including encryption, secure HTTPS connections, and access controls to protect your data. Access to school data is limited to the school it belongs to. However, no method of data transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Personal PrepMaster accounts are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13 for a personal account without parental consent.

Schools may enrol learners of any age through an institutional account. For those learners the school provides the records, controls how they are used, and is responsible for obtaining parental or guardian consent and for supervising use of the platform. We process that information only on the school\'s instructions. A parent or guardian with a concern about a school-held record should contact the school; we will work with the school to resolve it.

Accounts issued by a school are for academic use — assessments, results and online classes — and are not consumer accounts with access to wallet, competition or purchase features.

We use your browser\'s local storage for essential things like keeping you signed in, remembering your theme and portal session, and protecting your session after inactivity. We also collect aggregated usage analytics to understand how the platform is used and to improve it. You can clear this local data through your browser settings, though some features may then stop working.

You have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; request correction of inaccurate data; request deletion of your account and data; object to processing of your data for non-essential purposes; and lodge a complaint with the relevant data protection authority in Nigeria. Where your data was provided by a school, we will refer your request to that school and assist it in responding.

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify users of significant changes via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of PrepMaster after the effective date of any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
